30-minutes fire-resistant glass roof, rue Sainte Catherine in Bordeaux (33000), in a shop
Saint-Catherine, Bordeaux glass roof
STRUCTURE TRANSPARENCE built a new 30-minute fire-resistant glass roof for a store on rue Sainte Catherine in Bordeaux city center. This project was highly complex in both the design and construction phases.
For this 54 m² structure, we had to submit a construction notice to EFECTIS, a laboratory specializing in fire safety structures in France.
During the construction phase, the shoe store did not close for a single day. Scaffolding and a roof covering were erected to carry out the demolition and installation work with minimal visual and noise disruption.
The glass roof has several specific features : the first of which is to stop flames in the event of a fire for 30 minutes. This feature allows residents of apartments whose facades face the glass roof to be protected while evacuating the premises. In addition, the glass roof, which has a steel frame, has opal glazing to prevent the interior of the store from being seen from the upper floors, as well as anti-burglary glazing to prevent vandalism.
Installation was complex in the center of Bordeaux, with limited access for mounting steel beams weighing over 150 kg.
Thanks to its design office and installers accustomed to complex projects, STRUCTURE TRANSPARENCE is a reliable partner for your glass roof projects in public spaces.
